The Brief
The homeowners wanted to take greater control of their household energy usage and significantly lower their overall energy bills. They were interested in integrating solar panels and an electric vehicle (EV) charger into their recently renovated property, which included a large new extension. Sustainability and renewable energy were key priorities, and they were seeking a future-proof solution tailored to their home and lifestyle.

Our Solution
Following a comprehensive site survey, we designed and installed a bespoke renewable energy system tailored to the client’s property, energy requirements, and budget. The installation included solar panels, battery storage, backup power supply, and an EV charger, all while allowing the client to benefit from 0% VAT.
Due to the property consisting of both a newly renovated extension and an older section of the home, it was essential to carry out an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) before installation. During this process, we identified the need to replace three existing consumer units with a single upgraded unit to ensure the electrical system met current safety and compliance standards. This enabled us to safely integrate the new solar and energy systems while documenting and addressing any existing faults or non-compliances.
Components We Used
- 10.44kW Solar System
- 24 Solar Panels 435 all black N-Type technology – They not only looked good but have the latest technology.
- 14.22kWh (12.8kWh net use) Solar Battery
- Fox KH8 Inverter
- Smart 7KW EV charger in conjunction with the Solar PV.
- Consumer Unit to include surge & RCD protection.
- We also added a Bird Blocker to the Solar Panels to prevent any nesting under the panels.
The Results
By investing in a Solar PV system, the clients have taken control of their rising energy costs and significantly improved their home’s energy efficiency. They can now generate their own electricity, store surplus energy within a battery system, and export unused power back to the grid, creating additional savings and potential income through energy export tariffs.
To maximise efficiency and reduce costs further, the battery can also be charged overnight using lower off-peak electricity rates, allowing stored energy to be used during the day when demand and energy prices are higher.
The clients began seeing savings from their very first billing cycle, with the new system delivering both immediate reductions in energy costs and strong long-term financial benefits.

What the Client Had to Say
“Dealing with Elektra Smart Energy was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. The team kept the work area clean and tidy throughout the project and were always reliable, arriving exactly when they said they would each day.
They took great care in every aspect of the installation and completed an exceptionally neat and professional job installing all 24 solar panels and the associated electrical work.
We would thoroughly recommend Elektra Smart Energy to anyone considering a solar installation.”
