The Brief
A memorial hall in Northamptonshire approached Elektra Smart Energy looking for a way to reduce its ongoing energy costs and make better use of its existing electricity consumption.
As a community facility, the hall has regular electricity demands throughout the year, and rising energy prices were becoming an increasing concern. The trustees wanted to invest in renewable energy that would not only help reduce their reliance on grid electricity but also provide long-term savings for the hall.
The aim was to install a solar PV system capable of generating renewable electricity during the day, while incorporating battery storage to capture surplus energy and make it available when it was needed most.

Our Solution
Following a detailed site survey and consultation, our team designed a bespoke solar PV and battery storage system around the memorial hall’s energy requirements.
The system was designed to maximise the use of the electricity generated on site, with excess solar generation stored in the battery rather than being exported to the grid. This stored energy can then be used when solar generation is lower, helping the hall make greater use of its own renewable energy.
Components We Used
- 45 x Aiko Neostar 2S 510W All Black ABC N-Type Mono solar panel
- 1 x Fox ESS H3 Pro 20kW 3ph Hybrid Inverter
- 1 x Fox ESS EQ4800-M 4.66kWh Li-ion Battery – Master
- 6 x Fox ESS EQ4800-S 4.66kWh Li-ion Battery – Slave
The Results
The installation has given the memorial hall a more efficient and sustainable way to manage its energy consumption.
By generating electricity from solar power, the hall can reduce the amount of electricity it needs to purchase from the grid. The addition of battery storage allows surplus solar energy generated during the day to be stored and used later, helping to increase self-consumption and make the most of the solar PV system.
The project provides the hall with a long-term investment designed to help reduce energy costs, improve energy independence and lessen its carbon footprint.
For a community facility such as a memorial hall, reducing ongoing operating costs can make a significant difference. The solar and battery system is helping to ensure that more of the hall’s funds can continue to support the local community rather than being spent on energy bills.

What the Clients Had to Say
“The decision to install solar power at the village hall was a major investment for the charity, and we were delighted to put our trust in the hands of Elektra Smart Energy. Their pre-proposal advice and professionalism was first class, the quotation was clear and comprehensive, and the planning was meticulous. They executed with the minimum of fuss, Brian and Tom in particular have been fantastic, and they ensured the project was completed on schedule and on budget. Post-installation support from Uri and Mike has been excellent, and the savings have exceeded our expectations. I would thoroughly recommend Elektra for solar installation, and we continue to use their services for other complex electrical projects.”
