The Brief
The homeowners wanted to take greater control of their energy costs and increase the amount of renewable energy used across their property.
The large outbuilding presented an excellent opportunity for solar generation, providing generous roof space for a sizable PV array without placing panels directly onto the roof of the historic rectory.
The aim was to create a system that was not only highly efficient but also sympathetic to the property and its surroundings, whilst providing a future-proof energy solution for the homeowners.

Our Solution
Following a comprehensive site survey, we designed and installed a bespoke solar PV system for the large outbuilding, making excellent use of the available roof space while providing the homeowners with a reliable source of renewable electricity.
The installation features Trina Vertex S+ 435W Dual Glass N-Type solar panels with a white backsheet, selected for their high performance, durability and clean appearance. The panels provide a total installed capacity of 10.44kW, allowing the property to generate a significant amount of its own renewable electricity.
The solar array is connected to a Fox KH10.5 inverter, which efficiently converts the electricity generated by the panels into usable power for the property. A Fox CM4800/CEFR forms part of the system, alongside the necessary AC and DC isolation equipment to provide safe and effective operation of the installation.
A NET Emlite Bi-directional ECA2.n meter was also installed, allowing electricity imported from and exported to the grid to be accurately recorded.
For the installation, we used dedicated 4mm² solar cable and MC4 connectors, with appropriate DC and AC isolation to ensure the system was installed to the required safety standards.
The completed system provides the homeowners with a high-quality, modern solar PV installation that makes productive use of the outbuilding’s roof space and enables them to generate clean electricity on-site, helping to reduce their reliance on grid-supplied energy and lower their ongoing energy costs.
Components We Used
- 33 X Trina Vertex S+ 435W Dual Glass N-Type (White Backsheet) solar panels
- 1 x Fox KH10.5 inverter
- 1 x NET Emlite Bi-directional Meter ECA2.n
- 1 x AC isolator – IMO – 63A 4-pole
- 7 x Fox CM4800/CEFR
The Results
The large outbuilding has been transformed into a valuable source of renewable energy for the property.
The clients can now generate their own electricity from the solar panels. Importantly, the solar panels were installed on the large outbuilding rather than the main rectory, allowing the historic character of the home to remain untouched while making excellent use of the substantial roof space available elsewhere on the property.
The clients began seeing the benefits from their very first billing cycle, with reduced energy costs, greater control over their electricity usage and a long-term renewable energy solution for their home.
